Republican Representative Dwight Kay Attempts to Weaken Workers' Comp

Illinois Representative Dwight Kay (R-112th District) covering a midsection of Madison County, but also has a section in St. Clair County, who was recently re-elected after defeating Marleen Suarez (D) by less than four hundred votes, has become the leader in the Illinois House for the Republican’s endless campaign to de-form the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Program.

Representative Kay has introduced 5 Bills in his efforts to weaken our Workers Comp. Rights.

As Mike said the Steelworkers knows how to fight and we know how to work as a partner. We always prefer the latter but we will never hesitate to fight when we have to.

In a March 12 memo to OSHA’s regional administrators and whistleblower program managers, OSHA’s Deputy Assistant Secretary Richard Fairfax provided guidance on employer safety incentive and disincentive policies and practices. He issued a reminder that reporting a work-related injury or illness is a right and that employer retaliation against a worker for exercising that right is illegal under section 11(c) and puts the entire workplace at risk.
