This Thursday's "Fire Up - Let's make Steel" Rally has taken on an additional importance as the International Union has released a national media advisory announcing the event.

Currently, the Trump Administration is pursuing a Section 232 trade case which is examining our country's steel and aluminum industries as related to our vital national defense needs and capabilities. A decision could come at any time. A favorable ruling could curtail imported steel into the U.S.

Our rally will bring attention to the pending 232 case and its importance to making steel once again in Granite City. Steelworkers, our families and our allies will rally against unfair trade that has caused an idling of our iron and steel making facilities, resulting in more than half of our members being laid off for over 18 months.

While the weather predictions call for a very hot day Thursday, hot conditions are nothing new to Steelworkers. The Local Unions have arranged for event specialists to erect a 40'x80' tent with multiple cooling fans. Free bottled water will be available, as well as a hot dog or two if you wish. We all know, as rallies go, a small turnout would be more detrimental than not even holding a rally, so member attendance is essential! The event starts at 4:30 p.m. and is only expected to last about an hour; but an important hour it will be for Steelworkers, our families and the community! See you at the "Fire Up - Let's Make Steel" Rally!
